The compulsory scrapping rules for cars in China used to be this way. The maximum service life of a private car is 15 years. By 15 years, no matter how many kilometers you drive, you must be forced to scrap! Obviously this is very unreasonable, because some car owners drive Less drivers, some owners drive more, which is very unfair to owners who drive less!

The latest automotive reports: First, non-operating passenger vehicles (including passenger cars, including off-road vehicles) with 9 or less seats (including passenger cars, including off-road vehicles) that have been used for 15 years and continue to be used after reaching the end-of-life standard do not require approval. The service life is extended, but the inspection is performed twice a year, and if it exceeds 20 years, the inspection is performed four times a year from the 21st year.


Second, tourist passenger cars and non-operating passenger cars with more than 9 seats are used for 10 years. After reaching the end-of-life standard, it is required to continue the use in accordance with the current regulations. The service life can be extended but not more than 10 years. The end-of-life tourist passenger cars are postponed to be inspected 4 times a year; Passenger cars are inspected twice a year, and for more than 15 years, they are inspected four times a year from the 16th year.


Third, the service life of operating buses is adjusted to 10 years, and the requirements for continued use after reaching the end of life standards shall be handled in accordance with the existing regulations. The postponed use shall be postponed for no more than 4 years, and the period of extended use shall be inspected 4 times a year. It should be noted that the conversion of a commercial vehicle into a non-commercial vehicle and a non-commercial vehicle into a commercial vehicle shall be discarded according to the specified period of service vehicle (8 years).

 Impact of the new regulations

National 6 standards have been implemented nationwide. Car owners who have experienced National 5 emission standards should know that the days of National 3, 4 and 5 vehicle owners will soon be difficult.

The current annual inspection regulations for motor vehicles are that non-operational new motor vehicles are inspected every two years for the first six years, once a year for the first six to fifteenth years, and half a year after that. According to this calculation standard, a brand new private car will be forcibly scrapped for 3 consecutive times, ie, 6 consecutive years without annual inspection.


For older vehicles over 15 years, if they fail to obtain the pass mark for 3 consecutive testing cycles (ie, one and a half years), they will be forcibly scrapped.

Scrap subsidies? Not much, but in order to speed up the renewal, China has issued the "Interim Measures on the Management of Subsidies for Retirement and Renewal of Old Automobiles." For large-scale cargo and passenger cars with a useful life of 8 to 10 years, the subsidy rate is RMB 4,000 per vehicle.


For urban buses that are 9 meters or more in length and that have been updated in the same year, urban buses that meet Euro Ⅱ standards are subsidized at RMB 15,000 per vehicle, while cars range from several hundred to several thousand.
